Starting an Event Planning Business: Part 1

A couple of month ago, I wrote about great work from home businesses opportunities for moms. If you are interested in becoming a party or event planner, then there are a few steps to ensure your business starts off on the right foot. This will be a 3 part series over the next couple of weeks.

Part 1
*Do you like being around a crowd? Planning the party can be done over the phone from your office, but when you are at the party you will always be surrounded by people. You will be managing the crowd and not participating at the party.

*Are you an organized person? You will need to manage contracts, vendors, time lines, budgets, and many changes. Organization is a necessity.

*Do you have creative vision? Are you the person that everyone comes to when they need some creative inspiration? This could be a great business for you.

Should I Really Consider This Business?

*Host a party at your house, country club, or friend's house. Start out with a guest list of 20 people. See what goes into planning the party from start to finish.

*Volunteer to put together a non-profit event.

*Intern at an event planning company. This will give you experience and let you know if you like the work and hours.

Event planning is a wonderful creative outlet, and the business is great for moms with a flexible schedule. Check out Part 2 next Monday.
