Saving Money When Going to the Doctor

This morning I am heading to the doctor and thought I would share a few ways to save before heading to your doctor's office.
1. Call your insurance company to see if your doctor is in network. Use your doctor's tax ID to identify if he is in network.

2. Check your benefits. Some procedures will fall under the copay and other will go under your deductible.

3. Be prepared to pay for the visit up front. If you are unable to pay the complete balance at the time of the appointment, set up a payment plan with the billing department. Most doctors will let you pay out the balance interest free.

4. If you need to reschedule or cancel you appointment, do it at least 24 hours before your appointment. Most doctors offices charge a fee for no showing or missing your appointment.

Going to the doctor isn't pleasant, but you can save yourself a huge financial headache by following these simple steps before your next visit. If you have any money saving tips, please share them with us.
