Book Review and Activities: Violet the Pilot

Violet the Pilot by Steve Breen, is a great book for both boys and girls. Violet is an amazing engineer and loves spending her free time building flying machines. She enters one of her flying contraptions into a contest, but when she comes across some children in need she has to make a decision. Children will get a glimps through Violet's eyes of what it means to put others before yourself.

Activities to do with the book:
*Use cardboard boxes and decorate them like an airplane
*Print out coloring pages of airplanes.
*Make paper airplanes and have a contest to see which one will fly the farthest.
*Go to a garage sale and pick up an old "anything with button and knobs". Let your children pretend it is a control panel for a plane or let them take it apart and try to put it back together.
*Go to an aviation museum.

Have a great flight,
