Recipe: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

This past weekend we found ourselves scouring the internet for a recipe for oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I went a little crazy in the oats department and bought the largest container of quick cooking oats Target has in stock. It was a really good price, and they last forever. Does it sound like I am trying to convince you?  Maybe I am a little. We have an abundance of oats and needed to make a dent in our stash.

We came across this recipe from All Recipes, and the cookies turned out great. Of course, I believe it is a sin to put raisins in oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, but you can add them if you want.  Let me know what you think of this recipe.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies by All Recipes

1 Cup Butter
3/4 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/4 Cup Boiling Water
2 Cups Quick Cooking Oats
1 1/2 Cups Semisweet Chocolate Chips

  1. Beat butter or margarine, sugars and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add flour and salt, mix well.
  2. Dissolve baking soda in boiling water and add to mixture. Stir in rolled oats, raisins and chocolate chips.
  3. Drop by teaspoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 10-12 minutes. Don't over cook. (There are no eggs in this recipe, I didn't forget to type it down).
  4. A glass of milk for dunking. I added this last part.

Happy Baking,
