The Right Caterer

How many of you have been to a party and the first thing you remember was how great the food was, or the dirty silverware at the table? Caterers can make or break your event. I'm not trying to sound dramatic, but it is extremely important who you place your trust in when providing the appetizers, main course, desserts, and drinks at your event. It is the first and last thing people will remember about your event. Food is a powerful thing. The experience involves all of the senses.

Here are a few tips when selecting a caterer.
*Get References. The caterers I have used in the past have been recommended to me, and they did a great job.
*Meet in person with the caterer to discuss: the menu, the drink selection, the flow of the buffet line, how many waiters/waitress you will need, whether they will set up and break down, and get a list of everything they provide.
*If you can buy the spirits yourself you will save about 50%.
*Your caterer should be able to tell you how much wine, beer, tea, water, lemonade, etc. to purchase. Make sure to know the head count before meeting with your caterer.
*Many caterers will provide the linens, but they outsource the product from another vendor. Make sure that you are getting a good deal and not getting charged a large fee for the caterer to do the linens when the original vendor could do it at a lower rate.
*Finally, if you are able to attend an event in which the catering company is serving the food, then check them out.

Catering will be a large chunk of your budget so do your homework. If you love the food and service, so will your guest. Bon Appetit.
